Greg Tharp - EP/Co-Founder

Greg Tharp, co-founder and executive producer at Hone, has twenty years experience as a producer, working in integrated commercial production, as well as, documentary, music video, live events, independent film, and studio film production. Prior to starting Hone, he was senior vice-president and executive producer at Deutsch Inc., New York, overseeing content production for PNC Bank and special assignments for Microsoft and Go Daddy. He participated in the highly publicized turnaround of Go Daddy’s advertising, producing the “Inside/Out” campaign launch and their two 2013 Super Bowl commercials.

Before Deutsch, Greg was a freelance executive producer on Rolex and Goldman Sachs projects for JWT and Y&R, respectively. He was a senior producer at Cliff Freeman & Partners, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and JWT for brands as diverse and recognizable as DeBeers, Smirnoff, Royal Caribbean, Quizno’s, Burger King, and Snapple. He learned creative commercial production under the direct influence of Cliff Freeman, the legendary creative chief.

Greg has ten years experience as a line producer in Los Angeles producing commercials, music videos, film, and live events. He was partner and executive producer at SuperMega Entertainment in Los Angeles, which produced music videos for artists as diverse as Britney Spears and Wu Tang Clan. He produced close to one hundred music videos and won a Grammy award, MTV’s Music Video of the Year, and MTV’s Best R&B Video of the Year among other accolades.

Greg was Director of Special Projects and Events at NBC Studios before founding SuperMega. He was the second hire at the infant department that was built to internally produce the network’s filmed promotions and live events. While there, he coordinated the production of seventeen live press events for NBC Network, including two massive NBC Upfront events, and also oversaw two of the network’s annual “Mondo” promotional campaigns. Greg has co-produced two feature films, Torque, 2003, a Warner Bros studio film, and Detention, 2012, an independently financed film distributed by Sony Pictures International.
